PROVO, Utah (AP) — Search and rescue teams are working to rescue a man stuck on an avalanche deposit on Utah's Mount Timpanogos.

Utah County Sheriff's officials say a team reached the man about 11 a.m. Sunday, about two hours after they got a 911 call.

They say it may take a while to get the man back down the mountain, which is the second highest in Utah's Wasatch Range.

Sheriff's officials tell the Daily Herald that the man was most likely unfamiliar with the area and thought he was still on or near the trail.

They say the man actually was far off from the trail when he was found.

Snow is on or around the Timpanogos trail throughout the year.
