TAYLORSVILLE — A father and son who had not been seen since Monday returned home safely Tuesday, police confirmed.

Benjamin Miller, 39, and his son Jacob, 5, left about 10 a.m. Monday to head west and get firewood but hadn't been heard from since, according to a Tuesday news release from the Unified Police Department.

Police pinged a phone associated with the pair in Bluffdale later Monday morning, but the phone has since been turned off. The pair appeared to be heading south, police said.

Shortly after noon Tuesday, Unified police Sgt. Melody Gray confirmed Miller and Jacob were located and safe. The truck Miller was driving broke down, but he was able to get the truck going again and returned home, according to Grey.

No further information was immediately given.
