1. Hong Kong protests: Night of violence shocks city after seventh week of mass marches

Hong Kong descended into scenes of chaos Sunday night, after riot police fired tear gas and rubber bullets at protesters, and a mob armed with batons attacked people in a metro station.

2. Heat advisory issued for Wasatch Front

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has issued a heat advisory for Salt Lake and Tooele valleys, and along the southern Wasatch Front and northern Wasatch Front.

3. 'The Lion King' bites off $185 million debut, a July record

If there was any doubt that the 2019 box office belonged to the Walt Disney Co., this weekend put an end to it. Not only did its photorealistic remake of "The Lion King" devour opening weekend records for the month of July and a PG-rated film, but "Avengers: Endgame" also crept past "Avatar" to become the highest-grossing film of all time.

4. Memorial dedicated for 660 pioneer children who died on trek to Utah

When Stefanie and Roger Hunt were asked to create sculptures to honor the 660 children who died while trekking to Utah at a new Pioneer Children's Memorial, they "didn't believe it was gonna happen, because artists hear things like this all the time," Roger Hunt said.

5. State employee badly bruises face when driverless shuttle abruptly stops

A state employee got his face badly bruised earlier this week when the driverless shuttle he was riding came to an abrupt stop, and he hit the floor.

1. 2-time Utah champ Preston Summerhays wins US Junior Amateur title

Summerhays stormed to the U.S. Junior Amateur title Saturday, defeating challenger Bo Jin from China, 2 and 1 in the 36-hole final at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.

2. Tony Finau finishes 3rd at The Open Championship

Finau may have only shot an even-par 71 on Sunday, his highest-scoring round of the tournament, but he was the only player in the final 10 groupings that didn’t shoot over par on the day.

3. RSL's Silva, Minnesota's Quintero score in 1-1 draw at Rio Tinto

Silva scored his second goal of the season on a second-half equalizer, and Real Salt Lake earned a home draw with the visiting Loons, 1-1, in front of an announced crowd of 16,992 fans Saturday night.

4. Press, Corsie lift Utah Royals FC to 2-2 draw with league-leading Portland

Christen Press scored the first equalizer, and Scotland captain Rachel Corsie added a second as Utah drew visiting Portland, 2-2 in front of an announced crowd of 15,931 fans Friday night at Rio Tinto Stadium.

5. Utah Royals FC Reserves fall to Florida's Pensacola FC, 4-3 in OT of WPSL championship

BYU standout Mikayla Colohan had a goal and two assists, and Cougar teammate Cameron Tucker scored twice to pace the URFC Reserves, which was founded in January and finishes its inaugural season with an 11-2-1 record.
