SALT LAKE CITY — Police on Monday identified a Salt Lake City man who died after he was struck by a vehicle Saturday morning.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a crash at 500 South and 400 West shortly after 9 a.m., according to Salt Lake City police in a report. Police said Roy Hostetler, 57, was riding a motorcycle traveling west on 500 South when he was struck by a vehicle travel north on 400 West.

Paramedics treated Hostetler at the scene, but he was pronounced dead there.

The crash remains under investigation; however, Salt Lake Police Sgt. Jenn Diederich said on Saturday that it appeared the motorcyclist had run a red light and laid his motorcycle down before the collision.

She added the driver of the other vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with police.

The fatal crash was the sixth motorcycle fatality on Utah roads since Aug. 2.
