THE ARCADE — Basketball has never been my strong suit.
In fact, I'm downright terrible at it. I think it started when my parents were tired of driving my brother and me to two different practices and two different games every other day so they made me play on my brother's team. Sure I was the same size as all of those kids because I suffered from the medical condition known as Adolescent Ogre-tism (don't look it up, it's not in any medical books). Anyway, I was the same size, but I was three years younger than these kids and I wasn't good at this sport to begin with.
Needless to say, it was a humiliating season and I now suffer from slight PTSD when it comes to playing hoops.
This has always been embarrassing to me considering that I like to think I'm somewhat athletic. That embarrassment has intensified now that I've seen this video of a grandma in the Philippines owning an arcade basketball game.
Yesterday's Have You Seen This?
It's hypnotizing to watch this woman sink bucket after bucket and then have the audacity to be frustrated she missed a few baskets after she likely broke all kinds of records on that machine.
I have sincere respect for this woman and am in total envy of her. I mean, look at all those tickets.
You may be wondering why I'm embarrassed by this video considering I'm talking about real basketball and she's playing an arcade game. Well, here's the truth: I'm also horrendous at arcade basketball and once embarrassed myself at a friend's house who had one of these in his basement. I made two shots in two minutes.
Now, watch this video and let me go wallow in self-pity.
