FOUNTAIN GREEN, Sanpete County — An off-duty Sanpete County sheriff's deputy was killed in a car accident Saturday evening when his car drifted into oncoming traffic.
Police say Justin Scott, 27, was driving west on state Route 132 in a silver Kia Optima near Fountain Green about 6:30 p.m. As he approached a curve in the road, the Kia drifted into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a black Dodge Durango.
The off-duty deputy was killed on impact.
The male driver of the Dodge and a 4-year-old passenger were flown from the scene in critical condition. An adult female and two other children were taken to Central Valley Medical Center in Nephi. The two children were later flown to Primary Children's Hospital.
All occupants in both vehicles were wearing seat belts.
