HERO-VILLE — If you are, were, or know a teen (especially in Utah), you have seen the elaborate ways they ask each other to school dances.
In fact, elaborate asking is so expected in so many schools in this state that when I asked a boy to a girl's choice dance straight to his face many, many years ago, he didn't think I was serious. He accepted another girl's request a couple of weeks later after her elaborate date request. (Cue the saddest trombone ever.)
But we're not here to feel sorry for teenage me, we're here to talk about the most epic dance request in the history of ever.
Two boys grew mustaches, donned turtlenecks and gold chains, and proceeded to plan and make the most epic and elaborate dance request in the history of ever. Trust me, it will be seriously hard to top for the rest of time.
The video is heavily 80s cop-show themed (I'm looking at you Magnum, P.I. short shorts) and set to the tried-and-true anthem "Holding Out for a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler. And that's all I'm going to tell you, because the rest is best to experience fresh and new. I'm genuinely excited for other people to experience this, so much so that I'm counting it as my good deed for the day.
Yes, the video is almost six minutes long, but it has the chops to hold your attention, even for more than one viewing.
