SUTHERLAND, VA — Caden Allen waited as patiently as a four-year-old can for his mailman, with his arms stretched out.
"I got my own box," Caden said, with a huge smile.
"Say thank you," his mother Alicia Allen said. "Want me to carry them for you?"
Ever since the single-mother asked for cards to help motivate her four-year-old son who suffers from many ailments and was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor, the cards started coming.
She said that ever since she made the plea Caden has been "excited to come home and check the mail.
"He's like, has the mailman came yet, has the mailman came yet," she said. Each new letter bringing a new smile.
"He lassoed the sun and put it in the mailbox," Caden said.
Caden's list of ailments included suffering from more than 100 ear infections and ankles that curve in. He also battles severe acid reflux, asthma, allergies as well as an under active bowel and bladder. And he was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.
In addition to the 12 medications he must take daily, he must be hooked up to two machines.

"That it is going to grow slowly but it has the risk of pressing on nerves and causing damage and he could not walk, not talk and things of that nature," his mom said.
She said the cards are a distraction from the almost daily routine of visiting a doctor. She knows that soon the cards will stop coming, while the doctor's visits will continue.
"I'm hoping that there's still a few that are concerned enough with him, to know, hey, you know, let me send a card every so often, that way he can see, you're still not alone," she said.
