WEST POINT, New York -- The Mormon Tabernacle Choir performed at historic West Point in the Hudson River Valley just outside New York City on the Fourth of July.
"To be in this beautiful place and know the history. This has been one of those things where we can share the gift of music with many people in a beautiful location. It's the best," said choir president Ron Jarrett.
The choir's appearance was kept under wraps for months because organizers worried too many people would show up for the free concert. West Point's annual concert already draws 10,000 to 12,000 people.
"Having the Mormon Tabernacle Choir come here, probably America's greatest choir, if not the world's greatest choir and one of the most prestigious bands, a military band and oldest in America, is just phenomenal," said Sherman Fleek, West Point's command historian.
