SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Census authorities say the southern Utah city of St. George is one of the five fastest-growing cities in the country.
New data released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau finds the city grew by about 3 percent, to just under 80,000 people in 2014.
Two other Utah communities, Heber City and Vernal, ranked among the top five on another list of the country's fastest-growing smaller cities.
Northern Utah's Morgan County also made the top-10 list for quickly expanding counties.
Nationally, the census numbers documenting growth from 2013 to 2014 show that some of the country's biggest population expansion came in Florida and Texas.
