PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has signed a bill that would remove a key requirement for students who want to participate in the state's scholarship tuition organization program.
School tuition organizations accept donations from individuals who get tax credits. They then assign the money to private school students to help pay for tuition.
House Bill 2328 would allow students to be eligible for the program without having first attended a public or charter school for at least 90 days during the prior school year.
Brewer vetoed a bill this year that would have allowed owners of corporations to claim individual income tax credits for corporate donations to a school tuition organization.
She signed HB2328 on Monday.
