LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police unions have filed a federal lawsuit claiming the department's interpretation of a new law about pay for employees doing union work is unconstitutional. At issue is the law that requires unions to pay for any leave taken by employees performing union-specific duties.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A United Airlines flight from Chicago landed safely in Las Vegas after reporting a possible problem with the aircraft braking and steering system. McCarran International Airport spokeswoman Christine Crews says flight 519 declared an in-flight emergency before landing this afternoon. The aircraft was towed to the gate as a precaution. No injuries were reported.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — The FBI has posted a description of a possible suspect in vandalism of several churches near Lake Tahoe. The FBI says the suspect is a thin, white, 18- to 25-year-old male who may have red, blue and yellow spray paint cans and several fire extinguishers. Authorities are investigating the vandalism as a suspected hate crime.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The debt-heavy subsidiary of casino giant Caesars Entertainment is again asking a federal court to give it more time to file its bankruptcy plan to get out from under $10 billion of its $18.4 billion in debt. Lawyers for Caesars Entertainment Operating Co. filed a motion this week in a Chicago bankruptcy court to move the deadline from Nov. 15 to March 15.
