PROVO — Authorities are asking the public for help in locating a man they say escaped custody early Tuesday.
Boyd Paul Anderson, 49, of Provo, escaped Utah County Jail custody just before 5 a.m. by cutting off the ankle monitor he was court-ordered to wear, Utah County Sheriff Sgt. Spencer Cannon said in a news release. Anderson has been in a GPS monitoring program since October, when he was sentenced in 4th District Court for felony DUI and drug distribution charges, according to Cannon.
Anderson has been booked into the Utah County Jail 37 different times since 1997, according to Cannon, and has at least nine convictions including DUI, theft, prescription fraud, impersonating an officer and domestic violence.
Anderson is described as 6 feet, 2 inches, weighing 190 pounds. He has grey hair (although he may be bald) and blue eyes. He may be driving a 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck, Cannon said. Anderson obtained the truck a few days ago from an auto dealership in Provo, but the truck is not registered and Anderson did not complete the purchase process with the dealership," Cannon added.
While authorities don’t have specific information that Anderson would be considered a danger to the public, Cannon said anyone who locates Anderson should “exercise caution” and contact Central Utah 911 at 801-794-3970.
