LOGAN — Most Americans live within 10 miles of a Target store. If you live in Logan, it's a different story — the nearest Target is 51 miles away, in Riverdale.
Cache Valley residents are in luck, however. Target has announced 39 new storefronts, and one of them is in Logan.
"We're excited to bring an easy, affordable and convenient shopping experience to new guests in the Logan, Utah, community with this new Target store," Target told KSL.com in an email.
The new 148,771-square-foot store will be located at 1300 N. Main, at the site of the former Cache Valley Mall which borders North Logan.
A July 2023 report proposed redeveloping the 25.5-acre mall site anchored by a 150,000-square-foot big-box retailer. The site is also expected to house office space, multifamily residential units and parking structures.
The new Target store will handily fulfill the big-box retailer requirement.
Demolition on the mall began last week and could potentially continue into June, a representative said. The demolition contract is valued at $1.9 million, according to city reports.
There is no clear timeline for construction on the new Target.
"As we get closer to opening the store, we'll have more specific details to share — including how the shopping experience will be tailored to serve local guests and the grand opening date," Target officials said.
