SOUTH SALT LAKE — A man robbed a convenience store at gunpoint late Wednesday night, police said.

The man walked up to a woman clerk in the Maverik convenience store, located at 2700 S. Main Street, at about 11:30 p.m., according to the South Salt Lake Police Department. He demanded cash after brandishing a black handgun and pointing it at the woman, investigators said.

No shots were fired and the woman was not injured during the robbery, according to investigators. Police said they set up a containment area and brought police service K-9s to the scene after the man left with an undisclosed amount of cash, but were unable to locate him.

Investigators described the man as being white or hispanic and between 30 and 35 years old. They said he was about 5-feet-7-inches tall, of a thin build and wearing a baggy black, yellow and purple windbreaker with white shoes and dark gray pants.

Anyone with information about the man or robbery can contact the South Salt Lake Police Department at 801-840-4000. Callers can remain anonymous, according to police.
