OGDEN — Firefighters responded Sunday evening to an Ogden house fire where an elderly woman escaped with help from her son.
The son, who lived nearby, arrived at the home near 600 East and 925 North to find the kitchen "fully involved in flames," according to Eric Bauman, Ogden City's deputy fire chief. The son entered through another door, found his mother and assisted her out.
Seventeen firefighters from Ogden City Fire Department and Northview Fire Agency were dispatched about 7 p.m. and were able to control the fire, according to Bauman. Damage to the kitchen was estimated at $25,000.
The woman, who was not identified, was not seriously injured but was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, Bauman said.
The cause of the fire was unknown and remained under investigation.
