WEST VALLEY CITY — Three people accused of leading police on a chase are in custody. Police said the trio tried to blend into their surroundings to avoid officers who were looking for them.

A police officer spotted the stolen car and the chase began near 7200 West and 3500 South, according to Sgt. Steve Burke of the West Valley City Police Department.

The chase was called off, but around 3:30 a.m. Burke found the car abandoned in a nearby cul-de-sac.

He said police found meth, heroin, marijuana and prescription drugs inside the vehicle. Poison control was called to identify the prescription drugs.

A short time later, officers found three suspects trying to "blend in" on the porch of a nearby home.

Burke said the homeowner awoke to commotion outside and noticed the people on his porch. He told police he had no idea who they were. A 26-year-old man believed to be the driver of the stolen car, and two women were taken into custody.
