RUSH VALLEY, Tooele County — Logistical difficulties in keeping water on a fire in a small Tooele County town led to the complete loss of a home.

At about 9 a.m., a fire at 3 Arthur Circle was called in to Tooele County dispatch. Firefighters responded quickly, and initially had the fire under control, according to Tooele County Public Information Officer Wade Matthews.

Due to a lack of water and relatively high wind speeds, the fire reignited. Rush Valley, a small town of less than 500, has no fire hydrants and relies on water trucks to fight fires, Matthews said.

A truck with more water was called in from nearby Stockton, but did not arrive in time. Winds of up to 30 miles per hour fueled the blaze. Though there were 36 firefighters from seven agencies on the ground, the large home was eventually gutted completely by the fire, Matthews said.

The home's two residents have been displaced, though no injuries were reported.

A cause is not yet known and an investigation is underway, according to Matthews.
