SALT LAKE CITY — It's the kind of homecoming that never gets old.
Nine Utah soldiers from the U.S. Army 405th Civil Affairs Battalion returned from Afghanistan Sunday. Enthusiastic friends and family members brought signs, banners and flags to welcome them home at Salt Lake International Airport.
The soldiers were in Afghanistan for 11 months mentoring local officials.
Deseret News:
"It's over. I'm back," said Cap. Alberto Moreno. "Everything is good. No matter what happened, everything is good."
The group is based in Las Vegas, but the nine who returned Sunday night are stationed in Utah.
The group was originally assigned to remain in the field through January.
