HEART PALPITATIONS RIVER — Think about the last time you were watching a movie that was so intense that you found yourself holding your breath with anticipation.
Just think about the most intense moment you've seen on film. The moment that made your hands sweaty and had every muscle in your body tensed. Now up that nervous energy by 11, and that's what you can expect from this video. It truthfully may be two of the most intense moments I've ever seen filmed.
Peter Joyce posted this video on YouTube of himself kayaking the upper Waccamaw in North Carolina when he, as he puts it in the description, "received a warm welcome from the wildlife."
An alligator rushes Joyce's kayak and flips him over. That's all I'll say, because just knowing this is going to happen while you watch the video will turn our stomach to knots and leave you breathless as you wait for the inevitable. You can hear how nervous Joyce is due to his breathing, but, my word, did he stay calm! I either would have been screaming and crying as I tried to get out of the water, or I would have just given up and sunk to the bottom as I accepted my fate.
Maybe you're all much braver than I am, taking more after Joyce, and won't find this video that intense. But this is the most anxiety-producing thing I've witnessed since I started making myself a PB&J last week and realized I was out of PB.
