AMERICA — Oh, say can you see, the fireworks that are still going off in every neighborhood all weekend.

Setting off fireworks must be a bittersweet thing for those who spend much time and money every July to create their own personal display of colorful bombs.

You’ve trolled the firework tents, you’ve carefully selected your gunpowder-fueled purchases, and you’ve given your loved ones safety lectures. On July 3, you had trouble getting to sleep just like a kid at Christmas. Then your whole day is filled with patriotic breakfasts, parades, and barbeques in a futile attempt to keep your mind off the real celebration.

When the time comes, you are so excited, and one by one, you explode your carefully planned dreams. And then, more quickly than you wish, it’s over.

See? Bittersweet.

No one understands this better than YouTube user Sven Johnson. In a video he made last year, Johnson not only created the perfect story to convey the (maybe real maybe not) bittersweet feeling that comes with setting off fireworks.

But what really makes this 30-second video special is the buildup to the most spectacular 4th of July pun you will ever hear. It’s so cheesy and groan-worthy that every dad will feel jealous. And as we know, that is the best reaction a pun could ever ask for.

No spoilers here, you’ll have to watch to experience the pun for yourself.

Happy belated 4th to all, and to all a good night!
