NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have waived tight end Taylor Thompson after wrapping up their three-day mandatory minicamp.
The Titans announced the move Thursday.
Thompson was a fifth-round draft pick by Tennessee in 2012 out of Southern Methodist where he played defensive line. The Titans switched him back to the tight end position he played in high school, and he played 35 games over the past three seasons catching 11 passes for 83 yards and a touchdown.
But he played only three games last season because of an injured knee. Thompson missed much of the offseason program and was late for a physical when he arrived for minicamp, drawing a fine.
Thompson said earlier Thursday he expected a decision in the next week on how to handle his sore knee.
