LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- Utah State University's art museum is taking a new approach to sharing its collection with patrons.

Librarians have set up "visible storage" cabinets for works normally held in the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art basement vault. The system will allow the collection to be easily accessible for the first time.

The cabinets have 270 drawers that exhibit the works flat and under protective glass. Museum director Victoria Rowe Berry says the cabinets will hold nearly 600 photographs, drawings, lithographs and screenprints.

Transferring the items into the new storage cabinets will take all summer. A grand opening is set for September.

Among the most famous pieces in the USU collection are several Ansel Adams photos and Depression-era photographs taken by the Farm Security Agency.
