(Press Release)SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) announces near completion of the I-15 EXPRESSLink project with all Interstate 15 lanes, including a new Express Lane, now open from 500 North in Salt Lake to Interstate 215 in Davis County.
Only two weekend closures of the 2300 North ramps remain before construction on the project is complete. The following is more information:
Upcoming Ramp Work at 2300 North:
- Southbound 2300 North on- and off-ramps will close from Saturday, Aug. 21 at 5 a.m. to Monday, Aug. 23 at 5 a.m. to complete remaining utility work.
- Northbound 2300 North on- and off-ramps will close Saturday, Aug. 28 at 5 a.m. to Monday, Aug, 30 at 5 a.m. to complete remaining utility work.
The I-15 EXPRESSLink project began in November 2008 and is on schedule to finish two months early and within budget. The project has increased I-15 capacity in the area by rebuilding 4.3 miles of the interstate, adding Express Lanes in both directions and replacing bridges at U.S. Highway 89, Beck Street, 1000 North and 800 North (the 1000 North and 800 North bridges were replaced by a single bridge at 1000 North).
Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) techniques were used to replace the U.S. 89 Bridge over I-15 resulting in minimal delays to the public. The bridges were built alongside I-15 and moved into place using self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs).
Dates and times on-ramp work are subject to change because of weather or construction delays. For more information about the I-15 EXPRESSLink project, visit http://www.UDOT.Utah.Gov/Expresslink.
