PARK CITY — Though he no longer owns a house in the area, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney continues making trips to Park City and Deer Valley, and a new estimate shows that his trips help the local economy.
After the exclusive retreat for Romney's biggest supporters last month, it was estimated that the event pumped about $750,000 into the local economy, according to [one report](<http://www.parkrecord.com/ci_21000651/mitt- romney-delivers-an-economic-stimulus-package-park >). That estimate includes hotel stays, meals, shuttle services and more the people who attended the four-day event.
And, it seems Park City has become Romney's Kennebunkport of the Bush-times.
Romney sold his Deer Valley home but he goes to the area often, many times for the help from business leaders and friends who have connections to the area. Summit County Republican Party Chair Henry Glasheen says it makes sense.
"We have a lot of business people here, we have a lot of private equity here, we have a lot of venture capital here," he said.
According to Glasheen, Romney knows many people who own second homes in Summit County, and he can turn to them for advice.
"This is naturally a place where some very smart people aggregate," Glasheen said. "A lot of deals get done here and I think he feels very at home here."
Glasheen says Summitt County usually votes republican while Park City is democrat, but he is very interested to see how November goes, as more in Park City might lean toward Romney.
