SUMMIT, Iron County — Around 50 people are back in their homes Monday after being temporarily evacuated due to a human-caused fire Sunday night.

The Christy Lane Fire started at 5:46 p.m. southwest of Summit in Iron County, according to Utah Fire Info.

Fire crews had reached 97% containment of the blaze as of Monday morning, officials said.

Approximately 50 people were evacuated for a time from the Red Canyon subdivision. The voluntary evacuation included people in fifth-wheel trailers and a dozen full-time residents, said Cassie Meredith, Iron County public information officer.

The evacuations were lifted late Sunday night.

According to Utah Fire Info, the fire was estimated to be 15 acres, was human-caused and was under investigation.

Firefighters are asking the public to avoid the area so they can continue their efforts.
