ELKO, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Supreme Court has rejected the appeal of a 27-year-old Utah man who has been sentenced to prison for up to 56 years for a series of convictions in a two-state crime spree and still faces murder charges in Utah.
Utah prosecutors filed murder charges against Logan McFarland in Sanpete County last spring after he was sent to the Ely State Prison for six felonies including kidnapping, robbery and car theft.
McFarland appealed the conviction for kidnapping during a botched carjacking at a West Wendover casino in 2011.
He argued his accomplice, Angela Hill, was responsible for stealing the car. The Supreme Court disagreed.
Utah authorities intend to extradite McFarland. He could face the death penalty if convicted of the fatal shooting of an elderly couple in Mount Pleasant.
