HERRIMAN — A 22-year-old man is in critical condition after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a fence Saturday, Unified police said.

Emergency crews responded to a call of the accident near approximately 8500 Herriman Highway shortly after noon, according to Unified Police Lt. Lexi Bell. The biker, Lucas Meyer Rolim, was traveling east on the road and investigators believe he failed to negotiate a turn on the road, Bell said.

Rolim, who is from Brazil and living in Murray, was transported to a hospital by medical helicopter and underwent surgery. He was in critical but stable condition, said Bell.

Bell said Rolim was wearing a helmet.

The accident is still under investigation.
