SALT LAKE CITY — With the April 18 filing deadline approaching, the Internal Revenue Service announced that the Taxpayer Assistance Center, 50 S. 200 East, will be open on Saturday, March 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help taxpayers with issues and questions regarding their returns.
Taxpayers can also find out if they qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit, which is a refundable tax credit — meaning it can cause a tax refund even with no federal tax being paid. Last year the average Earned Income Tax Credit for Utah was slightly more than $2,100.
In addition to the downtown Salt Lake City office, other Taxpayer Assistance Centers will also be open. Assistance may also be offered over the telephone by IRS employees who are working in other offices.
