BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A Utah payday lender accused of making loans in Idaho without a license has been ordered to stop doing business by the Idaho Department of Finance.
The agency issued a cease and desist order Wednesday against GeteCash. The company has also been accused of illegally garnishing the wages of loan debtors in Idaho.
The agency says GeteCash has advertised on its website that Idaho is in its service area for issuing payday loans.
But Finance Department Director Gavin Gee says that's not true, and that the company has never been issued a license.
GeteCash officials did not immediately return a phone message left by the Associated Press Wednesday.
In 2009, Idaho lawmakers passed a law stating that loans made by unlicensed payday lenders are void and not collectable.
