1. ‘With heavy hearts’ police identify remains found on Daybell property

Human remains found on Chad Daybell’s Salem property have been officially identified as 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan.

The Rexburg Police Department announced the findings Saturday following autopsies that were performed on both bodies in Boise.

2. UVU student, 27, dies from coronavirus

A Utah Valley University student has died from the novel coronavirus, the university announced this week.

Trevor Syphus Lee, 27, was a senior and scheduled to graduate in the spring of 2021. Lee was taking the summer off and not enrolled in any classes when he died on June 9.

3. Roads reopen, but Big Springs Fire grows to nearly 3,000 acres

The Big Springs Fire is now approximately 2,913 acres and 20% contained, according to authorities from Utah Fire Info. The blaze is one of three currently burning in Tooele County.

4. 'Stop fighting!' Atlanta sobriety test quickly turned deadly

Atlanta police video released Sunday showing a seemingly routine sobriety check outside a Wendy’s restaurant that quickly spun out of control, ending in gunfire. The killing of the 27-year-old black man in an encounter with two white officers late Friday rekindled fiery protests in Atlanta and prompted the police chief’s resignation.

5. Latter-day Saints, other supporters march in Salt Lake City against racism

When Madry learns another black person has been killed by police, “I’m like, ‘That could be me. That could be any one of my friends. It just takes it to a different level,’” he told KSL Sunday evening as he and about 100 others joined in a march and vigil in Salt Lake City.

The event was organized by a group of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to remember black lives lost to police brutality and call for an end to racism.

1. Westlake soccer caps turnaround with Graduation Cup 'Pomp' title; Park City wins 'Circumstance'

Saturday’s championship of the Graduation Cup will never take the place of the lost season and state tournament for the Westlake boys soccer team’s Class of 2020.

Finau shot 2-under-par 68 Sunday — his fourth-straight round below 70 to finish tied for 23rd with 8-under 272 in the four-day event.

3. Utah Warriors select 4 in Major League Rugby's inaugural college draft

Utah selected Saint Mary’s center Derek Ellingson with the No. 3 overall pick, followed by Iona fullback John Powers at No. 7, Loyola fly half Danny Giannascoli at No. 15, and former offensive lineman-turned-prop Elijah Hayes at No. 19.

4. Summerhays holds off Lehi's Galeai for Utah junior amateur girls championship; Skyline's Shelley wins boys title

Summerhays capped birdies on two of three holes midway through the back nine to turn a 1-up edge into a 3-up advantage through 13 to hold off Galeai, 2 and 1 Friday at Thanksgiving Point Golf Club.

5. UVU's Brandon Averette transfers to BYU for senior season

Utah Valley point guard Brandon Averette is on the move — again.

The former Oklahoma State transfer will play at BYU for his senior season, the Cougars announced Friday evening.
