1. 224 crashes statewide as Utah sees winter's first major snowstorm

More than 200 crashes were reported statewide, and officials urged caution for those traveling, after much of Utah turned into a winter wonderland Sunday.

2. Loved ones remember slain South Salt Lake officer David Romrell at emotional vigil

Family, friends, community members and fellow officers gathered Sunday night at a vigil to light a candle and remember officer David Romrell, who was killed in the line of duty on Nov. 24.

3. Ogden police identify man killed near Christmas Village after shooting at officers

Police on Saturday identified a man who an officer shot and killed Friday evening as 37-year-old Richard “Ricardo” Galvan. Officials said before Galvan was shot and killed during a gunfight with two police officers, he held a woman hostage for nearly an entire day.

4. 19-year-old woman dies after crash in West Valley City, police say

A 19-year-old Kearns woman died Saturday morning after a crash on state Route 111. Police identified her as Holly Nickel.

5. Former President George H.W. Bush dies at 94

George H.W. Bush, a patrician New Englander whose presidency soared with the coalition victory over Iraq in Kuwait, but then plummeted in the throes of a weak economy that led voters to turn him out of office after a single term, died Friday. He was 94.

1. No. 11 Washington claims 10-3 victory over No. 17 Utah in defensive battle

The No. 11 Huskies defeated the No. 17 Utah Utes 10-3 in the Pac-12 Championship game Friday. The win gives the Huskies a spot in the Rose Bowl and an opportunity to play a team from the Big Ten on New Year's Day.

2. Utah to play Big Ten's Northwestern in Holiday Bowl

Coming off a heartbreaking 10-3 loss to Washington in the Pac-12 Championship game in Santa Clara, California, Friday, Utah was selected to play in the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl Sunday, which will be played on Dec. 31.

3. BYU headed to Boise for Potato Bowl against MAC foe Western Michigan

BYU will play Mid-American foe Western Michigan in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise, Idaho. The game will kick off Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. MT on ESPN.

4. Utah State headed to New Mexico Bowl to face North Texas

After a 10-2 season that finished one win away from a berth in the Mountain West championship, Utah State will head to the Land of Enchantment for a bowl game against the Mean Green.

5. Offense clicks for No. 4 BYU women's volleyball in tourney sweep of Utes

Roni Jones-Perry poured in 20 kills, seven digs and three blocks to help BYU keep rolling with a 25-16, 25-21, 25-18 sweep of rival Utah in the second round of the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament Saturday night in the Smith Fieldhouse.
