NEWTON, Cache County — A 76-year-old man who died while kayaking Sunday with his wife has been identified.

Logan resident William Franklin Kline and his wife, Elizabeth, were kayaking in the Cutler Reservoir when they both fell out of their kayaks, according to the Cache County Sheriff's Office.

Elizabeth Kline was securing her boat as Kline was swimming to shore, but she found him facedown in the water a few minutes later when she noticed he had stopped talking to her.

The cause of Kline's death is yet to be determined as the State Medical Examiner's Office is conducting an investigation.

"We offer sincere condolences to Mrs. Kline and her family during this difficult time," said Cache County Sheriff Chad Jensen.

Editor's Note: Officials originally said William Kline was 77. They later corrected his age to 76.
