HELPER, Carbon County — Two women died Friday in a head-on crash on U.S. 6, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
Carolyn J. Ohearon, of Helper, was driving west when she crossed into the oncoming lanes about 12:50 p.m., troopers said. Ohearon's car went across both eastbound lanes before crashing head-on with a pickup truck, troopers said.
Ohearon, 38, died at the scene.
A passenger in the pickup truck, Charlene L. Oviatt, 61, of Huntington, was also killed.
The driver of the pickup, 62-year-old Jerry L. Oviatt, suffered "moderate injuries" and was taken to Castleview Hospital in Price by ambulance, according to troopers.
Both eastbound lanes of U.S. 6 were blocked for several hours while troopers investigated the crash. A UHP spokesman said Friday night that troopers may never know what caused Ohearon to cross into oncoming traffic.
