SALT LAKE CITY — The Division of Wildlife Resources announced that as many as 17,000 tiger muskies would be transplanted to Utah Tuesday.
The tiger muskies will be shipped from Nebraska and transplanted into various lakes and reservoirs throughout Utah, according to a DWR news release. The 17,000 fish are currently only 1 inch long, but they are expected to grow to 15 inches within a few months. The fish could grow to as long as 40 inches in four years, the DWR said.
The fish will be placed in bodies of water that already contain tiger muskies. The DWR said the new arrivals will provide more fishing opportunities for Utah anglers.
The fish will be stocked in the following bodies of water:
Pineview Reservoir (10,000 fish)
Newton Reservoir (1,000 fish)
Johnson Reservoir (1,000 fish)
Bullock Reservoir (500 fish)
Cottonwood Reservoir (500 fish)
Joes Valley (4,000 fish)
