LOS ANGELES (AP) — MTV says this summer's Video Music Awards will mark a first in the show's three-decade history.
The ceremony will be held at New York City's Madison Square Garden, its inaugural telecast from the famed site, the channel said
In a statement, MTV President Sean Atkins said the channel is grateful to New York and the venue for "rolling out the red carpet."
The awards have been held 15 times before in New York, including the original 1984 telecast from Radio City Music Hall.
