AUBURN, Maine (AP) — Bates College has settled a discrimination lawsuit with a former employee who claimed she was expected to engage in activities such as watching "chick flicks" with her boss.
The Sun Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1Olz041 ) 59-year-old Sarah Hulbert worked as an executive assistant for the college's president, A. Clayton Spencer, for about a month in 2012 before she was terminated.
Hulbert's suit claimed she was "intentionally" treated differently from her male co-workers by being forced to jog and take tennis lessons with Spencer.
After Hulbert resisted and was later fired, the lawsuit says a Bates human resources officer told her if Spencer had "discarded" her, then "no one else will wish to take you."
A Bates spokesman says the school "strongly disagrees" with Hulbert's accusations.
The terms of the settlement weren't disclosed.
