HOLLADAY -- Roommates called police Monday night when a man in Holladay threatened suicide and fired a gun.
When Unified police officers arrived at the home at 1740 E. Meadowmoor Road, the man fired at them. An officer shot back.
When the gunfire stopped, a SWAT team moved in and found the man dead.
Police, at this point, say they don't know whether the fatal shot was self-inflicted or fired by the officer. They say the man had a history of mental illness and had been in a psychiatric hospital within the past week.
An autopsy is now underway.
