(KSL News) -- Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors save lives, and the Salt Lake City Police and Fire Departments are handing them out for free to Salt Lake City residents.
Priority will be given to those who do not have these items in their homes and cannot get them. Police officers and firefighters will deliver the detectors following a home safety check. Those interested can contact the departments.
A grant from State Farm Insurance is paying for the service.
