SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Qwest Communications officials say some customers have reported trouble placing long distance calls tonight.
Spokesman Vince Hancock says there are widespread outages, but it's not a total outage.
He says it appears to be affecting some people in most -- if not all -- of Qwest's 14-state coverage area from the Midwest to the West.
He says crews are now working to identify what is causing the outage.
Since it's not a total outage, he said if people experience a busy signal when they dial a long distance number, they should hang up and try again.
