SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A West Valley City man has been sentenced to prison for 15 years to life for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old boy in a Burger King restroom last August.
Jorge Gutierrez-Ortiz received the sentence Friday immediately after pleading guilty to first-degree felony attempted sodomy on a child.
According to charging documents, he blocked the child's way as he tried to leave the restroom and assaulted the boy in a bathroom stall. Gutierrez-Ortiz then left, passing by the boy's mother as he exited the restaurant.
Third District Judge Deno Himonas ordered the 44-year-old Gutierrez-Ortiz to pay full restitution for the victim's treatment.
The boy's mother said her son cannot go to the bathroom by himself because he believes the same thing could happen again.
