(Salt Lake City, KSL News) -- A 17-year-old Kearns boy is in the hospital in serious condition. He was shot last night in the neck in what appears to be a gang shooting.

Police say the boy was standing with his brother when a verbal confrontation with five boys on the other side of the street got out of control. Four shots were fired.

"There's a car that went by and then you heard a bunch of screaming and another shot go off, so I don't know if it was just somebody hollering at somebody -- if it was gang-related or what. (It's) hard telling around here," says witness Richard Call.

The suspects fled the scene but were caught a short time later.
