(St. George-AP) -- Charges have been dropped and Larry Bruce Mangum has released following 13 months imprisonment while awaiting trial in St. George on charges of aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping in a purported attack on a 17-year-old girl.
The defense presented the Washington County attorney's office with witnesses who said the girl had made false rape allegations in the past.
Prosecutors also had trouble staying in touch with her, and when she was located yesterday near Salt Lake City, she was uncooperative.
Prosecutor Paul Dame told fifth District Judge James Shumate that he was not comfortable proceeding with charges and he moved to dismiss the charges without prejudice.
