SALT LAKE CITY -- Two men attacked a cab driver after he dropped them off in Salt Lake City Saturday night.
Police said the Ute Cab Company driver picked up the two men at a local motel around 10 p.m. and drove them to an apartment complex near 700 South and 300 East. When the two customers got out of the car, they turned on him.
"I don't think the cab driver suspected anything," said Lt. Cal Kunz with the Salt Lake City Police Department. "It just looked like a normal fare when he picked them up and drove them to the location."
Police said the men attacked the driver with some kind of sharp object that cut his face. The driver managed to get away.
The suspects took off before police arrived, but police said they have surveillance footage of the men from a camera in the motel lobby.
The driver was taken to the hospital, but his injuries were not life-threatening.
Police said the attackers did not take any money from the driver, but the motive appears to be robbery.
