Keith McCord Reporting...This is "National Hospital Week." A time, when hospitals around the country hold special events, in recognition of all those in the medical profession.

It's fitting, then, the time of this story – about the baby, who just couldn't wait!

Say hello to Valeria Olvera -- all 5 pounds, 12 ounces and 19 inches of her. Also meet her mom, Celia, and proud dad, Aristo.

They had quite a day! This morning, Celia started having “mild” contractions.

Sue Montiel, Certified Nurse Midwife: "AND FINALLY ABOUT 10 O'CLOCK THIS MORNING, THEY DECIDED MAYBE THEY'D BETTER COME IN AND GET CHECKED, BECAUSE SHE NEVER REALLY DID GO INTO HARD LABOR."

Sue Montiel is the Olvera's Certified Nurse Midwife and interpreter.

Celia and Aristo were driving in from their Rose Park home, heading to Salt Lake Regional Medical Center.

Sue Montiel, Certified Nurse Midwife: "ABOUT 10:15 THEY WERE ON FIRST SOUTH AND 9TH EAST, STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, AND HER WATER BROKE."

Not quite to the hospital, Aristo was faced with a big decision…

Sue Montiel, Certified Nurse Midwife: "AND HE THOUGHT-- SHOULD I RUN THE RED LIGHT, OR SHOULD I WAIT. RUN THE RED LIGHT OR WAIT? AND HE DECIDED HE'D BETTER WAIT."

But the baby wouldn't wait for the light to change.

Talk about your quick deliveries -- labor began at 10:15. Baby Valeria arrived TWO minutes later, in the front seat, at this intersection!

Sue Montiel, Certified Nurse Midwife: "NO. SHE DID IT ALL HERSELF. SHE CAUGHT THE BABY IN HER SWEATER. AND THEY CAME STRAIGHT TO THE HOSPITAL, AND CAME WALKING IN WITH THE BABY."

Sue Montiel has helped deliver hundreds of babies over the years. But she says this one was probably the fastest of them all.

"SHE SAID IT HAPPENED SO FAST SHE DIDNT REALLY HAVE TIME TO BE AFRAID. IT WAS JUST HAPPENING, AND SHE KNEW SHE HAD TO DO IT AND SHE JUST DID IT."

This is the second child for the Olvera's. When their first child was born last year, Celia was in labor for 12- hours!

Mom, dad, and the new baby are doing fine tonight. We can only hope that their ride back home, will be less eventful!
