Samantha Hayes reporting The University's report to the NCAA stemmed from an investigation into allegations by a former ski coach.

The coach came forward in 2001 when his contract was not renewed.

Pat Miller quickly filed suit against the University, claiming he was fired for falsifying a recruit's academic record. He says he feels he was singled out for that offense, when other coaches committed what he believes were similar offenses.

Pat Miller knows a lot about the biggest sports story of the day.

Pat Miller was the coach that made those allegations after his contract was not renewed... over alleged ethical misconduct.

PAT MILLER/FORMER UTE SKI COACH: "THIS WAS AFTER 26 YEARS WITH THE UNIVERSITY...10 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS... "

Miller said other Ute coaches had committed similiar infractions..and also charged academic fraud within the athletic department.

PAT MILER: "AFTER MY SITUATION THEY REPORTED AT LEAST 20 OR 30 SECONDARY VIOLATIONS ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY FELT LIKE THEY NEEDED TO REPORT BECAUSE IT WOULD COME OUT ANYWAY."

An investigation and report to the NCAA followed... Now the University is under a 3 year probation.

PAT MILLER/FORMER UTE SKI COACH: : "I FEEL BAD FOR THE OTHER COACHES BECAUSE THERE ARE AMAZINGLY GOOD SPORTS PROGRAMS AT THE UNIVERSITY AND AMAZINGLY GOOD COACHES AND ITS TOO BAD THEY ARE GOING TO GET THE EFFECT OF A 3 YEAR PROBATION."

In terms of the effect on the athletic department..Miller thinks the probation is a slap on the wrist.

PAT MILLER: "GET INTO THAT POST SEASON GAME THING AND SAY 'HEY LOOK-IT YOU CAN'T GO" AND THAT'S MAJOR REVENUE FOR THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT."

Pat MIller says he feels like he initiated something that now will help out other coaches and new athletes.
