(Provo-AP) -- Two members of the American Fork High School band were killed and three others were injured in an auto accident in American Fork Canyon.
The highway patrol said 17-year-old Brent Pierce and 16-year-old Carson Draper were killed when the car they were in veered off Utah 92 about one-half mile west of Timapanogos Cave at 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
One girl was flown to University Hospital in Salt Lake City and two 15-year-old girls were taken to American Fork Hospital. Names and conditions have not been released.
Highway Patrol Sergeant Terry Woodard said the car driven by Pierce failed to negotiate a curve, went off the road and crashed into a tree.
Hundreds of students, parents and faculty gathered in the high school's band room yesterday to remember the two youths.
