CEDAR CITY -- Friends of a man accused of murdering two men over a debt testified he talked about killing them in the days before the crime.

According to the Spectrum, two people took the stand in the trial of Martin Nelson Wednesday and told of how he said he was planning on "killing some folks."

A witness from the state crime lab then testified the .22-caliber rifle belonging to Nelson was the weapon used in the murders of Chad Grijalva and Derek Davis, both of Washington County.

Nelson is accused of shooting and killing the two men when they came to his home in Iron County in October of 2007. He then allegedly buried their bodies in a shallow grave on his property.

Nelson is claiming self defense in the killings.
