(KSL News) – To them it was fun...to police it's a felony.

Three teenagers are in hot water for building a pipe bomb, and then setting it off at Salt Lake City's Canyon Rim Park.

This is all that's left of the pipe bomb, and the T-V it was inside.

Bomb technicians were called out after it went off,. and are now reconstructing the device for their investigation. They say the boys put the bomb inside the T-V... to see what would happen.

Bob Halloran, Bomb Technician, Salt Lake Couty Fire: "UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF UTAH, WHAT WAS COMMITTED TONIGHT WAS A FELONY. WE'LL DETERMINE THE NATURE OF HOW SERIOUS THAT FELONY WAS... BUT YES, THIS WAS VERY SERIOUS. THIS WILL REQUIRE SOME COURT TIME"

Luckily no one was hurt. The teens have been questioned by police, and released to their parents.
