(KSL News) -- Last night's focus on domestic violence offenders landed about a dozen people in jail.
Eyewitness News rode along with members of law enforcement as they rounded up those people with outstanding warrants for domestic violence and child abuse.
In Salt Lake County eleven people were put behind bars.
The effort was part of a program started in Oregon to highlight the problem during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Of the fifteen states participating in the program 328 arrestes were made between the 81 agencies involved.
A spokesperson from the Y.W.C.A. says the arrests are important because it holds offenders accountable, and may prevent the violence from escalating.
